Ruth Hewkin Obituary

Ruth Ann Hewkin, nee Marshall, of Davisville, Missouri passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 28 days.

Ruth was born August 15, 1944 in St. Louis, MO to Joseph and Ruth Rau Marshall. She graduated from high school in St. Louis, MO.

On December 13, 1991, Ruth was united in marriage to David Hewkin. Together in a few years, they had a son who joined Kimberly from Ruth’s previous marriage and Mitch and Michele from David’s previous marriage.

Ruth spent 20 plus years enjoying her time working at the Davisville General Store up until it burned down in 2013. She was a long-time member of the Davisville Historical Society and had the passion for history of her husband’s family and about the area she lived in. She was also a faithful treasurer of the Hewkin-Turnbough Cemetery Association. In her spare time, Ruth loved to crochet different items and especially afghans and in the last few years she learned the patience and joy in creating artwork with diamond dot painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ruth Marshall; husband, David Hewkin; infant brother, Joseph C. Marshall , Jr.; brother-in-law, Clinton Hewkin; and sister-in-law, Doris (J.W.) Morton.

Ruth is survived by her two children, Kimberly (Tom) Knaust of O’Fallon, IL and Kevin (Kayla) Hewkin of Davisville, MO; two step-children, Mitch (Debra) Hewkin of Steelville, MO and Michele Heberer of Washington, MO; grandchildren, Jacob and Katelyn Knaust and Della, Adalynn and Emerson Hewkin; step-grandchildren, Johnnie and Ethan Heberer; sisters, Kathleen (William) Pugh of Jarvisburg, NC, Patricia (George) Spracklen of St. Peters, MO and Elizabeth Harmon of Florissant, MO; and sister-in-law, Ruby Hewkin of St. Louis; other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026 with Pastor Kelly Eaton officiating. Special music of "Amazing Grace", "On Eagle's Wings" and "When We All Get to Heaven" was played.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Hewkin-Turnbough Cemetery, Davisville, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Jacob Knaust, Johnnie Heberer, Ethan Heberer, Geoffrey Harmon, Robbie Harmon and Michael Harmon with Honorary casket bearers, Kevin Hewkin and Tom Knaust.

The Hewkin Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.
